Using AI to improve sustainability efforts can prove to be highly beneficial. In fact, the use of AI could reduce worldwide greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 4% in 2030. However, it is more important than ever to ensure that AI is monitored and regulated in its usage, especially on a wider scale. It is predicted that by 2025, without sustainable practices, AI will consume more energy than the human workforce, which will significantly offset carbon-zero gains. As long as AI is used proactively, the benefits of it can outweigh these drawbacks. AI technologies make a huge difference in agriculture as they are able to pick up on possible stressors to crops and soil before the human eye could, allowing farmers to intervene more efficiently. 



Energy and resource optimization

We discussed how AI allows for better resource optimization in agriculture, only using what crops require by monitoring growth and potential pests. Outside of farming, this usage of AI can be applied to many different sectors and aspects of energy consumption. AI power grids can predict peak usage times and adjust energy distribution accordingly, ensuring that power plants operate more efficiently. This algorithm can be applied to homes and businesses as well, ensuring lower energy use, and in turn, lower costs. 



Artificial intelligence holds immense potential in addressing the urgent need for improved sustainability efforts. These technologies continue to impress the public with their innovative possibilities, many of which have been met with skepticism. It is important to understand the importance of proactive use of these powerful technologies, as many of their uses can prove to be highly beneficial to the world around us.
